Happy #Hanukkah .com : An example of a failed use of a premium Jewish holiday #domain

Happy Hanukkah to all of our Jewish readers and domain investors!

The Jewish festival of Hanukkah celebrates the re-dedication of the Jerusalem Temple, following Judah Maccabee’s victory over the Seleucids. The Macedonian Greeks, rulers of Judea and Palestine at the time, oppressed the worshipers and a revolt ensued.

Hanukkah lasts from December 2nd to December 10th this year.

In the world of domain names, wishing someone a “happy Hanukkah” is the proper anglicized form; the domain HappyHanukkah.com was registered in 2003.

Since then, it has been parked with various PPC providers, displaying ads that are not related to Hanukkah: Christmas gifts, and even gnomes as is the current content via an Amazon affiliate!

This is on a par with other wasted holiday domains we’ve covered, such as HappyThanksgiving.com and VeteransDay.com.

It’s really a shame seeing HappyHanukkah.com not being optimized for the Jewish visitors, and it’s going to waste by displaying unrelated ads.
