: Premium #health #insurance #domain sold for $8,133,000 last year

George Kirikos is 99% certain that the domain sold for $8,133,000 dollars in 2019, making it one of the biggest domain sales of the decade.

Note: The decade ends on December 31, 2020.

How did the enterprising domain sleuth uncover this information on a premium health insurance domain name?

By perusing SEC records of course. Public companies file their financial reports and the information is out there – if you know where to look for it!

For example, on page 9 of the report by Health Insurance Innovations, Inc. it states:

“Acquisition of domain name” of $8,133

Because figures are listed in thousands, that’s $8.133 million dollars. And on page 38 it states:

“On July 29, 2019, the Company entered into a Stock Purchase Agreement to acquire the interests of a corporation which owned and operated a domain name in the insurance industry. The acquisition was accounted for as a purchase of an asset and classified as an intangible asset on the balance sheet.”

George Kirikos is then examining the dates that the domain changed hands:

” They still don’t say which domain. But, WHOIS history via shows the registrant as “, Inc.”, before July 29, 2019 (later moved to WHOIS privacy) which is consistent with that, i.e. they bought the entire company outright which owned the domain, and clearly from the accounting of it, the sole purpose was the domain itself.”
