Mike Mann in control of Trayvon .com – So what?

Mike Mann owns premium domains.

Domain investor Mike Mann is known for his constant acquisitions of domain names, particularly single word and two word compound .com domains.

One of the names recently in the news is that of 17 year old student, Trayvon Martin, who was shot and killed in Sanford, Florida by a self-proclaimed neighborhood watch vigilante, George Zimmerman.

The incident, which took place in late February, along with the non-arrest of George Zimmerman has led to major unrest in the Orlando, Florida suburb, to the point that local businesses such as the popular German restaurant Willow Tree Cafe is cutting down employees’ hours after suffering a $10,000 loss during the month of March.

Back to Mike Mann: he owns Trayvon.com since at least November of 2011, according to historical data from top WHOIS tool, DomainTools.

The domain name Trayvon.com is on sale at GoDaddy TDNAM with an opening price of $1,000 but at Mike’s Domain Market outfit it’s listed for a hefty quarter of a million dollars.

There will always be those opportunists looking to profit from someone else’s misfortune.

Trayvon Martin’s mother has filed an application to trademark the rally slogan “I am Trayvon,”
However… http://www.iamtrayvon.com was registered a while back and resolves to a stripper club review site 🙂

I can not stand clowns like this, come on now, if anything he could have started a “fan site” or whatever, not try to profit off an innocent kids death. Come on now dude, who even wants the name? But, his family or supporters of this tragedy.

It sickens me when people do LOW DOWN things like this, like registering a domain name, because you heard of a kid dying and then trying to profit off a tragedy.

This makes you look bad Mr. Mike Mann, real bad. No good luck comes out of this.

DW – I get what you’re trying to say, but the bottom line is, the domain Trayvon.com was registered 3 months before anyone ever heard of Trayvon Martin. So if tomorrow some story in the news is about a Bob guy getting killed, should Bob.com become a memorial web site? If you have a point to make, make it against the owners of TrayvonMartin.com.

Opps, sorry. Misread the article. Assumed the domain name was registered at the time when the news broke. I apologize for the comments Mike Mann. But still, I would have gave the name to the family. Let’s be real here, Trayvon.com is not selling to anyone.

The owners of TrayvonMartin.com are supporters.

Also, the name IAmTrayvon.com is for sell at HugeDomains for almost 2k, once again, this is just not right. Who in the world would want to buy the name but the family of Trayvon, so then hypothetically if they did buy, you would be profiting off a tragedy.

It just does not set right with my conscience if it was me, and I know nothing but bad luck would come behind it.
