NamePros: Violent reactions stem from sudden forum software changes

NamePros members reacted violently yesterday and today, as the popular forum’s visuals and software were changed without any warning.

Reaction to NamePros changes led to violent eruptions in the streets.

Hundreds of members, mostly in their mid to late teens, turned the forum into a battlefield, with trolling threads, overturned cars, and the occasional stink bomb.

Reaction was strong, and tempers ran high.

“WTF dood, the modz changed the skinz and now it looks like that s**t DNForum, what is happening man?!” exclaimed R4DZ, a domain flipper from Chicago, who’s being home-schooled.

Forum moderators attempted to maintain order, banning the most aggressive members temporarily, and closing down threads.

“It’s ridiculous that some NamePros members don’t like change, but older members, over 25 years of age, are in agreement that the new software and design looks so much better,” said the administrator, Eric Lyon.

“Folks, what we did is for the best, and just because DNForum uses the same software doesn’t mean we are copying them, ok?” added Lyon.

DNForum users have treated NamePros as the little brother of domain forums for a long time, due to the average young age of its members, which is approximately 17 1/2.

Just a month ago, DNForum changed its underlying software, from vBulletin to XenForo; now NamePros is following in the footsteps of its older brother.

Let’s hope that the violent episodes will subside and NamePros members will return to discussing domains and acne-treating products once again.

Please note the pic is from a .com verses .gtld rally ….. guess who’s on the ground

vidfie – You’re right, I think I recognize a member of Team Schwartz on the ground 😀

I love DomainGang!! These are so funny. They’re like comics without the cartoons!

It’s good that both forums exist to keep them competitive. But not even a parody story will help save DNForum. That forum is dying… just look at their stats: http://www.dnforum.com/online/

Dnforum has 9 members online right now… 9! I have more people in my AOL chatroom on AOL version 5.0. LAWL

Tim – Who needs cartoons when you can get the live brawl action from the NP chatroom!

Us older folks have a life and go to bed early, we don’t stay up yapping in the chat, brah. 😛

But seriously, the default user setting is ‘hidden’, so don’t count your blessings yet.

I logged into Dnforum and the default is set to “Show Online Status.” I didn’t change any settings.

Maybe all the jittery fingers of old members accidentally clicked it. That seems plausible… the button is right next to “Log Out” 😉

I’m just messing around. They aren’t dying (the forum; not sure about the members: are they really that old?) but its popularity ain’t what it used to be. I miss 2008. It makes me sad. 🙁 Oh well, at least I can cry about it in Namepros chat! That place is poppin’ after the brawl settled down.

Tim – Glad you’ve kept your sense of humor among all that juvenile insanity 😀 You should know that most DNForumers are NP’ers as well. And there’s a great relationship between Adam & Matt so the forums are in great terms. With the software upgrade, NamePros.com finally loads in under 10 seconds!

  7. Tim Howard says:

Under 10 seconds? That’s fast! Now if only I could load in under 10 seconds… my GF would be much happier.

  8. vidfie says:

Ten second loads …….never heard about that in sunday school
