Nobody that we know of was invited to Nordic Domain Days, the domain conference that began on Monday and ends today.
The domain name event involves investors and other professionals from the Nordic countries and if you aren’t that great at geography, here’s a breakdown of the European countries, autonomous regions, and other rocky formations that qualify as being Nordic:
- Denmark
- Finland
- Iceland
- Norway
- Sweden
- Faroe Islands
- Greenland
- Åland
The Nordic countries have much in common in their way of life, history, religion and social structure. They have a long history of political unions and other close relations but do not form a singular entity today. The Nordic countries use funny symbols on top of their letters and are proud of their ccTLD domain names.
People from the Nordic countries most likely share the same passion for IKEA, swimming naked among large bodies of ice in winter, or eating smoked haddock.
It comes as no surprise we were not invited, not even virtually. The event took place in Stockholm, capital of Denmark Sweden and there was a pre-event dinner on Sunday, sponsored by .online, InterNetX, and Sedo.
The fabulous menu included a variety of Nordic dishes, such as pickled herring, pea soup and pancakes, meatballs with mashed potatoes and lingonberry sauce (an IKEA special) and of course leverpostej on rye toast.
OK, so we made the menu part up. Check out what is Nordic Domain Days and why it seems to be a fun group of domain industry professionals, by visiting NordicDomainDays.com.
