Sanmay Ved on Google.com : How I deleted and re-registered Bing.com

Sanmay Ved‘s incredible story about how he acquired Google.com for a few minutes, is a remarkable manifestation of technical bravado, patience, and good-hearted kindness.

Despite the potential repercussions arising from the handling of intellectual property assets such as the Google domain, Sanmay Ved wears his “white hacker” hat proudly.

“Never intended anything malicious with Google.com, which of course I only held for 1 minute. But it felt like eternity, and I’m glad Google rewarded my honest approach.”

Indeed, Sanmay Ved is not shy mentioning his other recent achievements, ranging from deleting and re-registering Microsoft’s Bing.com search engine, to surviving a flight from Los Angeles to New Delhi, hiding in the well of the plane’s wheels on a 15 hour flight, as a challenge from a friend.

Bing.com resumed operations after its domain was deleted, very briefly, then was re-registered using Sanmay Ved’s Black American Express. Bing refunded the credit card charges, as soon as they learned it was Sanmay Ved that was tinkering with the domain.

“I’m able to adapt with all that I do, and I’m performance-driven. First Google, then Bing, who knows what comes next!” exclaimed Sanmay Ved, smiling.

We wish lots of success to this remarkable young man, who clearly has a great future among the Silicon Valley’s best.
