SBR.org: DropCatch auction closed at $5,705 dollars and here’s why

The auction for the dropped domain SBR.org closed at $5,705 dollars at DropCatch, earlier today.

While LLL .org domains can command large amounts, such auctions have hovered between $184 and $5,050 in the past two years, with a mean price of $1,120 dollars. Source: NameBio.

The auction for SBR.org is now the second highest DropCatch auction of a LLL .org in the past five years, with WCN.org at the top (sold for $7,559 dollars in 2019.)

Why did SBR.org sell for this much?

The domain SBR.org was used by Deluxe.com as the destination to its “Small Business Revolution” series that has lasted 6 seasons, earning Emmy nominations. It was acquired from its previous owner in September 2020.

Unfortunately, someone dropped the ball on the registration of the domain SBR.org and it expired, eventually dropping. In the process, it lost its original 1997 registration date.

The auction’s winner uses the DropCatch account “mosterhout” that may or may not be linked to similar results in Google.

We would not be surprised if the domain was reclaimed via the auction by the show’s producers!

Update: The domain SBR.org points once again to the Deluxe series; apparently, the auction’s winner paid for the domain already and restored the domain’s content. WHOIS data corroborates that.
