Vajiralongkorn : Thai king’s demise rewards .com domain holder

Maha Vajiralongkorn

Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand.

After more than 70 years as the ruler of Thailand, king Bhumibol Adulyadej has passed on. He was known as King Rama IX.

Adulyadej ascended to the thrown of what was then Siam after World War II, holding it for more than 70 years. Aged 88, he was one of the longest-reigning monarchs in history.

His son, Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn will now become Thailand’s new king, as soon as the mourning period passes. The Crown Prince has been a royal heir since 1972. He has spent much of his time living in Germany.

That places the holder of the domain Vajiralongkorn.comregistered in 2009 – in a rewarding position.

Although names of ruling monarchs seem to be in a better position that those of politicians, any traffic would have to be established via search engines such as Google. In other words, not much to be gained from parking them.

The Prince’s full name as a domain, MahaVajiralongkorn.com is currently in redemption as a GoDaddy domain. It was also registered in 2009.

Maybe its owner believed the deceased king would live forever and gave up on the domain’s renewals?

The new king will become Thailand’s King Rama X.
