Verisign: Scathing 33 page report about ICANN and security to be published

Don't worry about earthquakes, Verisign keeps the Internet running like a Swiss clock.

Verisign won’t mince its words about ICANN in an upcoming report.

Verisign is due to publish a 33 page report that questions the technical capability of ICANN to oversee the domain name system.

Citing security and stability issues, the Verisign report is expected to cover the Central Zone Data System hacking, among a list of examples that define the operational track record of ICANN.

The same list includes the application system for new gTLDs, the Trademark Clearinghouse and the Registrar Contact Information Database (RADAR).

Reportedly, the scathing document by Verisign is titled “SSR3: Security, Stability, Resiliency Update: Operational Foreshocks” and it was first referenced on the security segment of Eweek.

Such a report would constitute a virtual “lump of coal” for ICANN, just on time for Christmas.
