Former search engine tech #domain sold in auction

Vivisimo was a privately held technology company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, specializing in the development of computer search engines.

In May 2012, Vivisimo was acquired by IBM for an undisclosed amount, to promote its “big data” technology. The company’s domain,, was registered in 2000 and was under the protective eye of CSC Corporate Domains.

Fast-forward a decade later, the domain name expired, dropped, and was caught by DropCatch. The ensuing auction took the usual three days to complete and the domain was sold for $15,050 dollars.

That’s the only sales number we can assign to Vivisimo, unless someone digs into IBM’s financials to discover the price tag of the business.
