What Frank Schilling meant to say – the video

In his widely-accepted post from a couple of days ago, uber-domainer Frank Schilling quoted oilman/philanthropist Jean Paul Ghetty and his interview to Playboy magazine in the 60’s.

While Jean Paul Ghetty’s statements represent a man fighting an uphill battle of survival in the cut-throat oil industry at the turn of the 20th century, Frank Schilling’s conclusion – despite being articulated in the remaining 1/3 of his post – can be summarized in the following video.

In other words:

  • The long straw is being used by the big advertising streams, such as Google and Yahoo
  • Domainers get drops for the use of their oil resources by the big straw holders
  • The domain industry’s resources have been drained up by parking domains instead of developing

On top of that, it seems that older domainers are now acknowledging that they sucked their own traffic resources dry until there is no more.

Using a long straw on your own resources does not qualify one as a “black gold” king. You have to diversify – just like .CO king Mike Mann has been doing.

  4. Domain Hell is Real says:

Domain hell is a very real place. When you go there, you’ll find all your domains have been given away to lowballers, and forum bottom feeders. You’ll have in place a portfolio of q,x, z style names with the .ws extension and .museum extensions. You can only sell your names to homeless people and take payments only in pennies (no escrow.com or paypal)…

If you want to suck the money back, develop, develop develop…parking is history, a vestige of the past that’s no longer available…I parked a domain for 2 months and it earned me a $1. I developed a domain and it has earned me $32 in two months….unless you want to find yourself in Domain Hell{:) ..LOL} then ignore this advice
