Digital Scrapyard: DNWE.com and Flip.uk now part of a new venture

Two weeks ago, DNWE.com, Flip.uk, and Brandable.uk sent out notices of termination of their services. The notices took many by surprise, as these small domain marketplaces appeared to have established a faithful followship among domain investors.

Time’s up, however. Both DNWE.com and Flip.uk now resolve to Digital Scrapyard, a new service operating from the domain DigitalScrapyard.com.

That domain appears to have been acquired from the portfolio of domain investor Matthew Klein earlier in October; the domain’s digital trail shows that it was offered for sale for $1,045 dollars. That number may or may not represent its acquisition price, however.

Digital Scrapyard presents its function as money lenders for digital assets, including domains and web sites. Despite an air of intended legitimacy, there is zero information on the venture’s operators or their locale. However, WHOIS information for Flip.uk still shows that its previous owners, Dot UK Group Limited, are still registrants; the same pair of nameservers as that for DigitalScrapyard.com is being used.

Ending up in a digital scrapyard seems like a sad ending for the aforementioned domain marketplaces.

Update: It seems that the current owners of DNWE.com & Flip.uk have indeed launched DigitalScrapyard.com, per this tweet from Ryan De Corsie Ewen.
