Mia Mood wakes up every day at 6:30am, takes her dog out to do its thing, then cooks breakfast for her husband Tony and their 3 children. At 7:45am she drops off the kids at the school bus-stop, kisses Tony on his way to work and that’s when her day really begins.
Mia is a domaining housewife, one of many women that maintain a double role in today’s American household. They’re homemakers and they also bring home the bacon – by managing and developing domains.
“I get up early and once everyone’s settled and out of my sight, I let go of a huge sigh of relief and I roll my sleeves up – so to speak. My morning is filled with projects that I need to catch up with, I do research on domain trends and recent developments. Before noon I call clients – otherwise they tend to get too grouchy after their stomachs are full with the crap they call lunch!”
Mia smiles and brushes a curly lock of her hair back. The instant messenger gets new messages every few minutes and her twitter feed is full. Her email dings several times every hour, and it’s not just spam; this busy mother of three is a busy bee in the domaining industry.
“I go after generics and two-word compounds that can be developed into useful web sites. The parking pages and the so-called mass-developed ‘dinky’ junk keeps the average Joe Domainer drowsy and at the mercy of PPC companies and push-button ‘specialists’. Full-fledged web development is what I do.”
And boy, does she deliver. Mia has launched a new service this week and the phone keeps ringing. If it weren’t for voicemail and call-backs, she’d never be off the phone.
“I have to divide my time among research, development, new deals and studying. Then of course, there’s housework to be done. With three kids and a husband who comes home tired and throws his stuff all over the place, I have to seek a little bit of sanity in this madness!”
By 6:00pm the house is full again, but work never stops. Serving the freshly cooked meal of the day is one of her favorite things, as she looks at the happy faces around her.
“Care to pass the potatoes, honey?”, says Tony with a smile. The twin girls are five years old and her oldest, a teenager, takes care of their needs when Mia is too busy taking care of everyone else.
“A mother’s job is never done!”, she exclaims laughing. “Sometimes, I wish I was just a WordPress button-pusher. Just kidding! I would not give up web development for anything in the world of domaining.”
Oh My God. This is so me.

Some more detail would be nice, what exactly does she do during her day? What web development does she do? How many websites can one person develop, especially when they are looking after three kids??
