A fire-hot thread at NamePros created last week by Shane Bellone, former “super seller” at Flippa, generated dozens of comments addressing current issues.
The exchange became heated at times, and became difficult to identify which issues are real and which were mere assumptions.
Kevin Fink, director of domains at Flippa, responded to a barrage of claims, rumors and several outlandish allegations; in the end, it became evident that some NamePros members cannot be persuaded, no matter what.
Flippa’s official position, as it appears through Kevin Fink’s statements, can be summarized as follows:
- Ali Zandi, another Flippa power-seller, became successful on his own and is not a “marketing gimmick”.
- Zandi’s interview to DomainSherpa was on his own initiative, not Flippa’s and not a paid advertisement.
- Both Zandi and Bellone paid for auction upgrades, and also received assistance – as does anyone else that reaches out to Flippa and requests it.
- Alleged shill bidding incidents at Flippa are investigated thoroughly using a series of existing tools and processes, to ensure the integrity of the system.
- All Flippa sales reported to Flippa affiliates such as NameBio, are cross-checked for reversals before confirmed as valid.
- Many sales at Flippa end up after private negotiations between seller and buyer, so the pattern of bids might appear strange to some.
- Editor’s Choice picks are more selectively done now, than in the past.
Going forward, Kevin Fink pointed out some of the changes and direction that Flippa auctions will be undertaking:
- There are no in-house Super Sellers that receive special treatment, after the removal of Ali Zandi and Shane Bellone from these outfits.
- The Upgrades system will be going through an overhaul, as it’s currently being re-worked on.
- Bidder Aliases is something that many Flippa members ask for, in order to instill transparency in the domain marketplace.
Flippa is currently taking suggestions in a NamePros thread separate from the other exchange.

Flippa and Kevin Fink are just a big, big s_ _t.
Nobody should use their stupid platform.
All they do is SCAM, and mr.FINK talks a lot
but has NO idea about domains and domaing.
He can search a job at McDonalds.
Bill – Don’t hold back now, let it all out. Can’t wait for you to post the proof.
McDonalds jobs are for those that don’t provide proof but just complain a lot.
maybe they are great… but i’ve never had anything but bad experiences dealing with flippa.
Lucius, thank you for attempting to cut through the noise and hysteria of the last few days. I’ve been a Flippa customer for many years and have, in general, been happy with the platform and its team members. Kevin Fink was the best thing that ever happened to Flippa and all my dealings with him have been positive and professional. He’s a hard-working dude that is always trying to improve the platform and anyone that’s interacted with him knows this. Kevin deserves a raise, not the abuse he’s getting from a few grumpy domainers and their fanboys.
Hat’s off to Kevin Fink!…. He certainly did not need to answer the accusations, but he did answer them. He answered them with truth, passion and professionalism…….. On another note, although still pertaining, “Anger is the biggest waste of time in life.”…..
That was your very personal experience with FLIPPA and K.F., Mr. Sweetman
Outher people had very different experiences with them … so their opinion is different as well.
Bill – Either you post your own documented experience, or you’re full of the shit you accused Kevin Fink of. “Other people” doesn’t cut it, this isn’t your local lynch mob gathering.
Hi guys – I’m a stupid idiot from the IP 87.222.7.133 in Zaragoza, Spain, who tried to talk shit about your blog, attacking Kevin Fink and FLippa along the way. Please spank my ass and ban me for life.
