Twenty years ago, Munir Badr launched a small online service to simplify domain registration in the UAE. What began as a student project is now AEserver, one of the country’s leading hosting and domain companies.
At the time, registering a .ae domain required paperwork, faxes and long waits.
Munir built an online ordering tool to cut through the red tape and that early solution evolved into a business that today serves over 30,000 clients that range from startups to government agencies.
AEserver was among the first registrars accredited by the UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) in 2008, when the .ae domain system adopted a modern registry/registrar model. AEserver now ranks in the top three for .ae domain registrations and continues to grow across other TLDs and services.
Munir’s influence also extends to the broader domain industry. He founded Domain Days Dubai, a key conference for domain professionals in the Middle East and Africa. The event connects investors, registries, registrars, and digital businesses from across the region.
AEserver’s growth reflects Munir’s long-term commitment to digital infrastructure in the UAE; by marking two decades, the mission stays clear: simplify digital access and support the region’s online future.
