For an astonishing 20 years, the ultra premium domain SwissBank.com has been – ahem – vaulted.
The domain asset of banking giant UBS, SwissBank.com displayed its own content in 2000 – after that, it served as a forwarder to UBS.com.
But in recent years, the domain name does not even resolve at all. Registered in 1992, the matching keyword to “Swiss Bank” is expected to instill confidence and trust, so why was it taken offline?
We might never know. The matching .ch domain, SwissBank.ch, forwards to UBS as expected.
Some very large corporations are not in need of premium, generic domain names – all they care about is their brand.
Will some enterprising domain investor attempt to acquire SwissBank.com from UBS?
That’s possible, as long as they have a wallet worth 8 figures!
