Theo.xyz: Domain sale went to “new money” start-up

The recent sale of Theo.xyz for $19,888 dollars was presented with tongue-in-cheek commentary by the seller, TonyNames.

Tony scored a legit sale and joked about it being some type of behind-the-scenes transaction involving the .xyz TLD founder, Daniel Negari.

What is this all about?

Conspiracy theorists have wrongfully accused Indian domain investor Swetha Yenugula of being an extension of Daniel Negari’s persona, which is a ridiculous accusation. Swetha’s track record of sales has long been verified by NameBio’s founder, Michael Sumner.

Tony milked the successful sale’s extended interest to its limit, engaging Daniel Negari in a tweet.

So who owns Theo.xyz now?

The domain resolves to a blockchain project that calls itself the “first virtual execution layer.” They have a presence on Twitter and Discord but pretty much nothing is known about the people behind the Theo project.

Registered in 2014, Theo.xyz appears to have been a reserved domain by the .xyz Registry until the following year.

Theo is a popular male and female name, short for both Theodore and its female form, Theodora.
