It’s expected that Wicked.com received a ton of free traffic from visitors perusing the adult domain that was erroneously printed on Mattel toys.
Aimed at fans of the musical and the upcoming movie, Wicked, the Mattel dolls’ packaging creators failed to proof-read the copy. Instead of using WickedMovie.com on the merchandise, the domain of Wicked Entertainment, established producers of pornography, was used.
Mattel apologized about the mishap yesterday and noted that it advised its major retailers, such as Walmart, BestBuy, Target, Amazon, and others to pull the inventory. Parents are advised to black-out the domain name or give the toys without packaging to their kids.
We have a hunch that following the incident, there was further communication between Mattel and Wicked Entertainment; in the days before the Mattel QC scandal Wicked.com displayed ample amounts of sexual activity [NSFW] from its grand collection of Wicked movies.
Now, that hero banner has been changed to a “safe for work” variant that almost resembles Netflix!
