Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city and the third-largest in the United Kingdom.
Situated on the River Clyde in the country’s west, it has a rich industrial heritage, once serving as a global center for shipbuilding and heavy engineering. Glasgow is known for its vibrant cultural scene, with world-class museums, art galleries, music venues, and universities. Architecturally, it blends Victorian grandeur with modern design, including the works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The city has undergone major regeneration, transforming former industrial areas into hubs for business, science, and the arts.
It comes as no surprise that the matching .com domain, Glasgow.com, is owned by a Glaswegian domain investor, Tommy Butler.
Tommy is proud for his domain, as anyone from Scotland should be. The domain name is clocking 30 years in continuous registration on October 6 and while it wasn’t Tommy who registered it in 1995, the domain was at some point owned by Nat Cohen, operator of Telepathy. Nat sold it to Tommy and the rest is history.

Said Tommy Butler about the three decades of Glasgow.com and its history:
Glasgow.com was first registered in 1995 in the USA by Ben Blish of Glasgow, Iowa. It was later acquired by Nat Cohen, one of the world’s leading domain investors and owner of Telepathy, Inc. In time, Nat was kind enough to sell the domain to me, Tommy Butler – a proud Glaswegian who believed that a name as important as Glasgow.com should be owned by someone with real ties to the city.
My connection to promoting Glasgow goes back decades. Since 1988, I have been involved in showcasing the city, starting with rights to the official Garden Festival poster. I later designed the Merc brand range to promote Glasgow as the European City of Culture in 1990. Owning Glasgow.com was the natural next step, part of a wider effort to secure and develop Glasgow-related domains as a business dedicated to representing the city authentically.
The domain is currently offered for sale and for more info visit Glasgow.com.
