In recent months we noticed a lot of domains having changed their DNS to the domain JewellaPrivacy.com.
Registered at the end of April 2021, the domain JewellaPrivacy.com represents a company called Jewella Privacy LLC with an address in Louisiana.
The company provides WHOIS privacy services and its own domain is registered with DirectNic, a veteran domain name Registrar.
DirectNic owns Fabulous.com, one of our favorite domain registrars, which has also changed its WHOIS information to a JewellaPrivacy.com contact address.
So what is Jewella Privacy after all? According to their web site lander:
Jewella Privacy specializes in providing mail forwarding for physical and email communications to domain name registrants worldwide. In 2001 upon hearing about a lady who was stalked and threatened because her website exposed fraud committed by an attorney, we created a WHOIS privacy service. Domain name registrants worldwide use our contact information in WHOIS.
If you own domain names with DirectNic or Fabulous and WHOIS privacy enabled (as you should!) you’ll notice a change in the WHOIS data. The old WHOIS privacy provided free of charge by Fabulous used the domain privacy.co.com but as of April 2021 that has changed.
In a nutshell: Jewella Privacy LLC provides WHOIS privacy to domain registrants at DirectNic and Fabulous. Mystery solved!
