Mpox.com: Domain elevated as WHO renames #monkeypox

Happy Thanksgiving!

Monkeypox is a viral zoonosis—a virus transmitted to humans from animals—with symptoms similar to those seen in the past in smallpox patients. It seems pretty nasty, according to an outbreak prevalent since early 2022.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has decided to rename the controversial name and the new name is MPOX, apparently.

According to Politico, the move from monkeypox to MPOX comes amid White House pressure on WHO to reduce stigma around the virus’ name.

The “brand’s” transition means two things: The domain Monkeypox.com becomes worthless (current asking price is $450,000 dollars) all while the domain name Mpox.com is elevated to a premium LLLL .com domain.

Monkeypox is now MPOX

Although the domain Mpox.com is currently listed at Uniregistry with a “make an offer” listing, previous listings of the domain at Dan.com indicate it was offered for $5,000 dollars not too long ago.

Definitely a lucky day for the registrant of Mpox.com!
