The FBI‘s Atlanta Field Office has struck a major blow against video game piracy, seizing several high-traffic websites that had been distributing pirated games on a massive scale.
In a coordinated action that included the dismantling of website infrastructure, federal authorities targeted a group of domains notorious for leaking and distributing illegal copies of popular video games. These sites, active for over four years, routinely made pirated titles available days or even weeks ahead of their official release dates.

At the heart of the crackdown were the following domain names well known in piracy circles:
- nsw2u.com
- nswdl.com
- game-2u.com
- bigngame.com
- ps4pkg.com
- ps4pkg.net
- mgnetu.com
Collectively, these platforms were used to download more than 3.2 million pirated copies of video games between February and May of 2025 alone, according to FBI data, resulting in more than $170 million in losses to the video game industry.
The crackdown also had an international component; the FBI thanked the Dutch Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD) for its assistance in the investigation, underscoring the global nature of digital piracy and the international cooperation required to fight it.
