Temu is a global e-commerce platform owned by PDD Holdings, the same company behind Pinduoduo, a major Chinese online marketplace.
Launched in September 2022, Temu operates on a low-cost, direct-to-consumer (DTC) model, competing with platforms like Shein, AliExpress, and Amazon in the budget e-commerce space, positioning itself as a disruptor with its factory-to-consumer approach.
It comes as no surprise that Temu, operating from the domain Temu.com, is extremely protective of its brand.
In February, we noted that several UDRP filings were active with some already decided; the latter involved Temu.ec (Ecuador) and Temu.md (Moldova) that were both ordered to be transferred.
The list of UDRP decisions now includes the following domain names, all of which were ordered transferred to Temu:
- Temu.ae (United Arab Emirates)
- Temu.lv (Latvia)
- Temu.do (Dominican Republic)
- Temu.es (Spain)
Additionally, Temu.pa (Panama) and Temu.gt (Guatemala) resulted in UDRP filings that were terminated, apparently because these domains were already transferred away to Temu.
Moral of the story: Stay away from trademark domains.
