CDROM.com expired and dropped, losing its original 1992 registration date; the domain was caught by Gname, a Singapore-based drop-catching service.
While it beat other services such as DropCatch and SnapNames, the ensuing auction on Gname did not seem to have delivered any noteworthy results. A few hours before the auction’s closing the top bid was below $1,500 dollars, on par with the obsolete technology it (mis)represents: CD-ROM is the proper spelling, after all.
The domain now forwards to a YouTube video titled “Wrist Mounted CD Launcher – Built to DESTROY!”
Not exactly the most cost-efficient way to utilize the domain CDROM.com but definitely a fun one! 😀
