The domain Crypto.org was registered in 1996 and it was acquired by EPIC, that itself operates from Epic.org.
What is EPIC?
It’s a public interest research center in Washington, DC. EPIC was established in 1994 to focus public attention on emerging privacy and civil liberties issues and to protect privacy, freedom of expression, and democratic values in the information age.
EPIC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has no clients, no customers, and no shareholders.
Yet another domain is now “off the market forever,” as Drew Rosener likes to add after every domain sale! 😀
