DisasterAssistance.gov is a centralized platform that helps US residents affected by natural disasters apply for federal aid, check application statuses, and access recovery resources. It provides information on housing, medical, and food assistance, offers personalized support through user accounts, and delivers updates on declared disasters and deadlines, streamlining the disaster recovery process.
The web site was launched on December 31, 2008 by DAIP, the Disaster Assistance Improvement Program. The program was created in response to President George W. Bush’s Executive Order 13411, issued on August 29, 2006.
Meanwhile, the domain name DisasterAssistance.com is not a government domain name. Unlike USPS.com, for example, the matching .com domain is available to acquire from Mike Mann‘s DomainMarket platform.
The price: A whopping $2,000,000 dollars. Registered in 2002, the domain appears to have been hand-registered by Mike Mann, although WHOIS records only go as far back as in 2005.
It’d be interesting to see if the super-busy domain investor would donate a portion to disaster assistance.
