Domain sightings: Pescaito in Puerto Rico

While still on a trip to Puerto Rico, my domainer brain kicks in despite the obvious distractions: sea, sand, sun, food, and so much more that la isla del encanto has to offer.

Domain names are used less often in public and the .PR ccTLD is quite rare. Instead, the addition of “PR” to more popular TLDs such as .com and .net is utilized.

Pescaito is a restaurant and bar in Fajardo, with access to the bay and its marina; the important part is the seafood.

Ceviche is extraordinary as is the octopus cocktail. They make their own tostones—fried plantain chips—that are fresh and crunchy.

The domain name, PescaitoPR.com represents the restaurant’s internet presence via the web. Some parts are under construction but no worries. Word of mouth is the greatest promotional tool here along with their Instagram account.

What the heck is a “domain sighting,” you may wonder out loud.

It’s when we encounter domain names in the real world, that appear on vehicle wraps and signs, billboards and business signs, and product packaging. For convenience, we group them into .com domain sightings, and other ccTLDs, gTLDs and TLDs.

Are you still in PR? I live few minutes away from Fajardo and I’d love to meet a fellow domain lover!

Franco – Alas, I’m no longer in Puerto Rico. By limiting my stay to one week only, I’m not at risk of not wanting to go back! 🙂
