SpamHaus, a global keeper of domain and IP violations, maintains a list of abusive behavior originating from a large variety of gTLDs and TLDs.
How does SpamHaus measure that type of negative performance among domain extensions?
The abusive behavior of domain TLDs is calculated as the ratio of abusive domains that exist in a given TLD, to its total number of active domains.
As of December 30, 2019, the TLDs with the worst reputations for spam operations are:
- .Top – A total of 3,685,083 domains registered.
- .Work – A total of 692,893 domains registered.
- .GDN – A total of 359,849 domains registered.
It’s interesting noting that .Work was also the #2 most abused TLD exactly one year ago. It’s is currently the #10 most populous gTLD.
