The domain Firefly.com is a former asset of Microsoft, acquired by James Booth in 2017 and subsequently sold to Drew Rosener of Media Options for Bitcoin.
In 2019, Firefly Aerospace acquired the domain name as we reported, indicating that Media Options sold it.
Firefly.com no longer resolves to the web site of Firefly Aerospace, however; the company’s web site is now pointed to the domain FireflySpace.com.
Instead, a “for sale” sign appears on Firefly.com, inviting offers:
We aren’t sure if this is a configuration glitch or an indication of a domain sale that has taken place already.
Firefly Aerospace made history on March 2, 2025, landing its Blue Ghost lunar lander on the Moon in a big win for commercial spaceflight. After launching in January on a SpaceX Falcon 9, Blue Ghost touched down right on target in Mare Crisium, carrying ten NASA experiments to explore the lunar surface.
The lander spent about two weeks running science missions and pushing forward plans for future human exploration.
Today’s rocket launch by Firefly Aerospace, however, faced some glitches and its mission success assessment is pending.
