Polar vortex: A buzzword that has captured the front pages of many news web sites, weather reports and social media.
The whirling cyclone that has brought most of the continental US to a freezing frenzy, sent the thermometer plunging in the low 30s in Central Florida as well. We had to wear two layers of clothing while doing yard work.
As it’s the case with every newsworthy keyword, we had to check PolarVortex.com and it was listed for sale at Fabulous for at least a year.
As of today, the domain PolarVortex.com has been sold – presumably, for the lowly amount of $499 – using the BIN option at the Fabulous marketplace.
The buyer, a network of branding companies called “The Collective“, has already transferred it to GoDaddy. According to the WHOIS data from DomainTools, the registrant is Seth Gerszberg, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of The Collective.
We are not sure how the company plans to utilize this much-discussed domain, but it’s expected to generate some residual type-in traffic, even after the polar vortex effect passes, later this week.
The sale of PolarVortex.com is is a great example of fast action by entrepreneurs, seizing the opportunity to capitalize on media-driven buzzwords.
