Domain registrar Spaceship has resolved an issue involving 154 domains, after a domain investor complained that his entire domain portfolio was moved to redemption status.
Sending out a message of dismay over X, Andy noted publicly that his domains were somehow “deleted”:
“HELP!!! @NamecheapCEO Someone with the Spaceship Team just went into my account and deleted all my 154 domains @spaceship They are now all on redemption period! Please help as fast as possible!”
An exchange with the Spaceship support team followed over the social media platform and was eventually taken care of to the domain investor’s satisfaction.
Today, he confirmed that everything is back to normal:
“All 154 domains have been restored. It took 27 hours to get them all back. I hope this doesn’t happen again, but for now… I need a day or two break from domains. This was really stressful.”
The Spaceship support team confirmed that the domains were erroneously moved to a different status during a standard procedure, noting that this unforeseen glitch won’t ever happen again:
“Here this was a human error on our part during an account verification. So a related order got canceled. Which shouldn’t have happened. We’ve already addressed it with the responsible team to make sure it never happens again. As for the canceled domains, we are working on fixing this for Andy. And it’s true that no one on our team can access a customer’s Spaceship account — the system is built so that logging in is simply not possible.”
We’re glad to hear that the issue was resolved and that all of Andy’s domain names are now safe!
Spaceship celebrated its 2nd anniversary in recent days as an independent domain registrar spun off from Namecheap.
