Thomas Matthew Crooks: Would-be assassin name domains already being traded

The attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump dominated the US news this weekend. An act of mindless violence, the assassination attempt was carried out by 20 year old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

While the nation is still numb from the visuals of the attempt that was fully captured in broad daylight, a lot of questions remain to be answered, including the deceased perpetrator’s motive.

What’s certain, however, is that the release of the would-be assassin’s name fed a round of fresh domain registrations by a number of individuals.

First on the list, ThomasMatthewCrooks.com was registered at GoDaddy. The same individual appears to have registered the .org variant, as they both display a similar “coming soon” landing page.

Meanwhile, someone wants $100,000 dollars for the .info domain, listed for sale on GoDaddy’s Afternic platform. The .biz is available, all while the .net, .co and .us are all registered; the latter is listed for sale at Dan.com.

Registering domains of people involved in heinous crimes is not exactly new practice; the intention to sell a domain that’s newsworthy or related to shocking news will always be there and mostly criticized by the sane portion of the domain investor community.
