Attendees of NamesCon will remember Tropicana, the Las Vegas hotel and venue, rather fondly.
For six years, from 2014 to 2019, NamesCon took place at the “Trop” in Las Vegas, before moving to Austin in 2020.
Unfortunately, the Tropicana is going to be demolished in September; the iconic venue will thus be removed from the Vegas landscape.
Once the Trop is demolished there will be weeks of work to clear the site and have it ready for the Oakland Athletics to begin construction on their planned $1.5 billion, 33,000-seat ballpark, to be constructed on 9 acres of the 35-acre site, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
NamesCon continues to provide a solid meeting platform for domain investors from around the globe. But it will never be as great, in our opinion, as when the event founded by Richard Lau took place in Las Vegas and at the Tropicana, at the beginning of each year.
