UFOs.com: Domain sold by owner’s family and not by #GoDaddy

In February, we witnessed the apparent demise of the domain UFOs.com, after its owner passed away in 2020. The sad chain of events led to the domain’s expiration, and its auctioning as an expired domain at GoDaddy Auctions.

Officially, the domain sold for $88,000 dollars but newly disclosed information casts light on who actually received payment for the domain’s value; there’s a back story that’s more important than money.

Martin Senko, operator of SEOforum.com, managed to locate and contact the family of Harry Josephi DeLigter, registrant of UFOs.com, and inform them of the domain’s value.

Martin shared with us that the family was surprised to learn about the domain’s worth and its auctioned amount, as they seemed to be unfamiliar with domain names in general. Upon Martin’s prompt, they renewed the domain before it could be claimed as nonrenewable by GoDaddy.

The family was very grateful to Martin for making them aware of what was happening. They eventually sold the domain name UFOs.com, potentially receiving up to $88,000 dollars for it. There is no information on the exact amount but the auction’s proceeds did not go to GoDaddy.

Many thanks to Martin Senko for sharing the story with us and for helping a man’s family keep his life’s hard-earned money.
