A start-up founder, Sabba Keynejad, operating from Veed.io, acquired the domain name Veed.com for $25,000 dollars in 2021. That acquisition was never recorded by Namebio and appears to have taken place after negotiations via Sedo.
The company was in stealth mode when they acquired Veed.com from its seller. This is the best way to acquire a domain name when you’re short on funds or still in pre-seed funding mode.
Sabba shared that while they believed that $25k was a lot to spend on a domain at the time, a friend of his managed to sell his unused domain which he acquired for a start-up that never took off, getting $80,000 dollars for it:
“My friend started a startup called “founder mode” 5 years ago. It never took off. Last week he sold the .com domain for $80K Excited to see what the new buyer will do with it.”
The domain was not disclosed. What was disclosed, was that Veed is still running from Veed.io as the founders feared an SEO hit:
“Loads of work, SEO risk for not enough return.”
Update: It’s very possible that the domain which was sold for $80,000 dollars was FounderMode.com.
