A humorous and somewhat infamous typo occurs when people mistakenly type masterbait instead of “masturbate.”
This typographical error often leads to both unintentional and intentional misunderstandings due to the significant difference in meaning between the two words.
The typo is particularly funny because masterbait can be interpreted as a play on words, suggesting some form of mastery over bait, as in fishing.
Masterbait.com is now available to acquire in a DropCatch auction, after the domain wasn’t renewed and was allowed to drop.
Seeing how there are three bids over $1,000 dollars we ask the obvious question: Why on earth would someone spend this much money on a masterbait domain?
Incredibly, there are more than 200 domains that contain “masterbait” and at least 22 TLDs that only consist of the masterbait keyword. Of these, at least 5 TLDs are developed into web sites with a fishing bait, or clothing line theme.
It seems that masterbait is a registered trademark in Australia, according to Masterbait.com.au.
Registered in 2002, the domain Masterbait.com was in the hands of an Australian company prior to dropping.
If you bid on Masterbait.com at the auction keep in mind that master domainers might be trying to squeeze in a bid and win this domain name at the last minute.
Update: The auction’s winner, amory2023, bid $1,818 dollars.
