Major music idol, Prince, has died at the age of 57.
According to various media sources, Prince’s body was identified at his private estate in Minnesota.
Prince’s musical genius and legacy goes back more than three decades. He will be sorely missed. 🙁
Meanwhile, domain vultures eager to capitalize on Prince’s untimely death, are already circling.
The domain PrinceDead.com has just been registered, along with PrinceDied.com – while PrinceIsDead.com has been registered since 2004, according to DomainTools.
What can we say.
It’s truly sad that such domain-snatching occurs as soon as a global celebrity passes.
Prince.com was sold in 2010 for $235,000 dollars by Media Options; the buyer, most likely, was German entrepreneur, Kim Dot Com.
Rest in peace, Prince.

What a loss to the music world and to those who have enjoyed his music from the beginning. Sad to see those who don’t respect the life but just the profit in his death.
First: What a truly sad loss Prince was. Possibly my favorite artist of all time….
I TOTALLY agree that buying domains for the purpose of reselling, i.e. trading on the loss of someone amazing, is terrible. BUT….
Some people buy domains as a tribute, albeit a little nerdy. I am one of those people, having picked up Prince.RIP yesterday and pointing it to the Twitter Moments page.
So I am not disagreeing, just saying that the intent is the issue.
And, for anyone interested in buying Prince.rip, you only have to wait another 364 days (+42 grace period) until it expires and you can hand reg it.
