Popular domain investor, Mike Berkens, sold his massive domain portfolio to GoDaddy in 2015, under the WorldWide Media umbrella.
Approximately 70,000 domains were part of the deal, including 373.com, Faculty.com, CarAuctions.com, and iBill.com. Although the official GoDaddy press release noted no numbers, the portfolio was reportedly acquired for the sum of $35.5 million dollars, per domain investor George Kirikos.
There’s one important thing to note: Apparently, GoDaddy did not acquire the majority of Berkens’ adult domain names, specifically those domains that contained words such as sex, fuck, blowjob, etc. The rules seem clear: While 12inchers.com made it to GoDaddy and NameFind, 12inchpenis.com did not.

But is WorldWide Media keeping all those roughly 5,000 domains forever?
In recent months and weeks we’ve been noticing that WorldWide Media has been dropping domains that were part of its adult portfolio, by not renewing them. These domains end up at DropCatch, for the most part, that auctions them and pockets the money.
Here are some examples with closing auction prices, as recorded by NameBio:
- Stroking.com – Sold for $1,701
- WeFuck.com – Sold for $989
- uFuck.com – Sold for $435
- FuckAllDay.com – No price recorded
- wwwPorn.com – Sold for $800
In a recent example, WorldWide Media dropped the amazing domain SexPhotography.com, a domain originally registered in 1999. The ongoing auction closes today at DropCatch, where the high bid stands at $1,100 currently.
Incidentally, there’s nothing inherently wrong with owning, using, or selling adult domain names; Sex.com was the ultimate adult domain sale, topping the charts for many years and other adult domain names have scored high numbers when sold.
