The .com/.net Registry is recalling tens of thousands of domains registered in the first two months of 2010 in an effort to control a severe flaw related to the capability of these domains to resolve quickly.
Long known for its laggard efforts to promote innovation, Verisign – the .com/.net Registry – announced early today that the mass recall of these domains is necessary, in order to address two inherent errors in the manufacturing process.
Sylas Marner, Verisign CEO responded to the media requests issuing the following statement:
“We tested domains registered in 2009, 2008 and 2007 and in comparison, the newest models with a registration date of 2010 suffer from DNS issues, multiple validation checksum failures when pushed between accounts and are prone to SES – what we call Sudden Expiration Syndrome.”
The registrants of .com and .net domains who registered their domains in the first two months of 2010 are advised to return them to their Registrars for a refund and a receipt; within two weeks they will be able to re-register these domain names after Verisign installs the factory microcode fix.
What do I tell the buyers of the domains I’ve registered in 2010? Sorry, I need to return your investment right quick for a “factory microcode fix”? I’m ruined! Thanks Verisign! :S

Patrick, that’s totally and completely (like, 101%) unrelated. I drive a Toyota and I can assure you the .com performs exceptionally well.
