We’ve been monitoring the ‘health’ of several gTLDs, among which is dot .XYZ.
The only new gTLD to have approached – but not reached – one million registrations, is a special case among the gTLD roster.
June is the one year anniversary for .XYZ domains, and thanks to a massive promotion that occurred last year from Network Solutions, many .XYZ domains were given away for free.
TLD-counting web site, ntldstats, pegs the current number of .XYZ domains in the zone file at 825,650; last week, that same number was 859,655 .XYZ domains or a 3.96% drop in a week.
At this time, the trend appears to be a steady decline in the number of registered domains, which is expected to continue for the coming weeks and months – until the one year anniversary of the Network Solutions promotion passes.
Still, dot .XYZ still maintains the #1 spot – in pure numbers – among all new gTLDs, according to ntldstats.
Still fairly amount of .xyz domains there.
ntldstats, great site!
