Ending months of byzantine scenarios, Yahoo! has been sold to Verizon.
The price tag is a not-so-whopping $4.8 billion dollars, a far cry from its heyday value of more than $125 billion.
According to Bloomberg, the sale of the Yahoo! core assets to Verizon will be announced tomorrow Monday, before the stock markets open up.
Yahoo! retains its $40 billion stake in the Chinese online retailer giant, Alibaba.
How relative is Yahoo! to domain searches these days?
Google is by far the biggest search engine, and after Yahoo! dropped its online directory, it commanded fewer visits; still, Yahoo! retained a healthy share market in the online advertising business.
Does the acquisition of Yahoo! by Verizon mean we’ll be spammed non-stop to switch over from other phone carriers? 😀
wow, should’ve sold to microsoft.
This was a pure political sale, designed to reduce the number of editors that were internally tagging everything in mass with left leaning comments focused on equality and actual congressional vote outcomes to highlight false narratives from Fox News. The site is night and day now and has become a dumping ground for racist, uneducated right wing rhetoric. Shame that Yahoo has been more brand than sensible economics, as to watch them let it go as a counter propaganda investment to protect defense contractors is disgusting. We live in a planet with finite resources! Not another dollar or resource should be spent depleting this world for warfare until full accountability of the relationship between lobbyist, leader, and field depletion strategies are accounted for.
F Carson – Yahoo! is less relevant these days than Buzzfeed it tries to copy after. Katie Couric joining Yahoo! was as relevant as Marissa Mayer’s attempt at designing the new Yahoo! logo.
