The domain name ElectricCar.com was sold by Sedo‘s brokerage service for $180,000 dollars, according to an announcement by Dave Evanson, chief domain broker.
The sale is quite sizable, and the two word .com domain was sold by domain investor Dhara Patel, who operates QualityNames.com as his portfolio lander.
Patel did not disclose the buyer, and we’ll have to wait until the domain changes DNS.
How did QualityNames acquire such a premium domain asset?
Opportunity knocked when the domain’s previous owners, Electric Car Distributors of Rancho Mirage, California, let go of this premium domain name, apparently via a private sale.
ElectricCar.com was in the possession of Courtney Williams Bourgogne as late as in August 2016, when it went under WHOIS privacy.
The domain emerges in the possession of Dhara Patel in February 2017. We are not sure if Patel acquired it directly from Electric Car Distributors, or via a broker. Most importantly, we are not sure how much was spent to acquire ElectricCar.com.
It is not rare for retail businesses to let go of premium domain names for a fee in the tens of thousands of dollars, even when the street value of the digital asset is in the hundreds of thousands, or more.
Congratulations to Sedo and QualityNames for this domain sale of ElectricCar.com!
