WIPO has launched a new service, called WIPO PROOF, that utilizes the blockchain to provide proof of existence for intellectual property assets.
The WIPO PROOF service is valuable for several types of services:
- Creative works and designs
- Trade secrets and know-how
- Research and data
- Other digital assets for agreements
The service offers a tiered approach to its cost, depending on the complexity of proof provided.
- WIPO PROOF Token – A unique digital fingerprint of your intellectual asset. Indefinite validity. 5 years of token storage, included.
- Premium WIPO PROOF Certificate – Generate a PDF certificate of your token, stamped and signed by WIPO.
- WIPO PROOF bundles – Buy pre-paid bundles of WIPO PROOF tokens.
Verifying a WIPO PROOF token is performed for free.
Interestingly, someone registered the domain name WIPOProof.com on the day the service was launched, and it doesn’t appear to be the WIPO.

Interesting, it’s a vertical application of the Proof.com service I launched few years ago that was also anchoring evidences in the blockchain.
