The #Torrent Man : Winner of PirateBay.org auction using it to fund movie!

The winner of the domain auction for PirateBay.org essentially spent $50,000 dollars to fund “The Torrent Man” movie.

Using a notorious domain of a peer to peer repository as the seed for a crowdsourced project breaks new grounds, and the new registrant wants $1.99 million dollars for PirateBay.org.

PirateBay.org now offers the domain for sale, with the following message:

“Yes, it’s official, the PirateBay Pictures is starting to film The Torrent Man, an indie feature movie about the darknet, torrenting world, crypto, and the real people behind them.”

The Torrent Man project is also seeking talent for its casting round:

Casting open for all roles, male and female, all ages, any ethnicity. Seeking amateurs and pros! Interested in joining our team? Send us your short bio, let us know why you would like to be a part of the project, and we’ll be in touch shortly.

All this while the live auction for ThePirateBay.com has already surpassed the $10,000 dollar milestone. On its heels, the auction for ThePirateBay.net is currently at “only” $415 dollars, with two days to go.

A hilarious side note: TheTorrentMan.com was most likely just registered by a domain investor, as it’s up for sale at Afternic.

The only live web site of The Pirate Bay resides at the .ORG.
