Leo Messi is perhaps the best football (soccer) player of all time and a living legend. The Argentinian athlete spent the majority of his career with Barcelona FC but moved to Paris Saint-Germain for some serious money.
Messi’s income from endorsements is expected to be astronomical and that number is expected to be multiplied by the launch of his own NFT range called “Messiverse.”
A portmanteau of Messi Universe, the non-fungible token range of items is “dropping” on the Ethernity chain. Operating from Ethernity.io, the platform is like OpenSea for digital sports memorabilia.
According to Ethernity:
Four pieces comprise the drop and portray the soccer superstar in an other-worldly orbit, in futuristic AI-driven bionic form, the βKingβ of creative soccer stardom, and a yet to be revealed piece commemorating his historic Copa America win.
It’s the work of artist BossLogic, according to the release.
Which brings us to the point: Messiverse doesn’t seem to exist on the matching .com domain, Messiverse.com, which is currently parked at GoDaddy.
The domain was registered on April 6th which means that the news about the Messiverse project leaked several months ago.
Meanwhile, other extensions are also registered, such as Messiverse.net (parked at Sedo and for sale at $25,000) and Messiverse.org (parked at GoDaddy.) Also, Messiverse.io is parked at GoDaddy – no surprise there!
In the past, Leo Messi successfully took over the domain LeoMessi.com via the UDRP process. It’s too early to predict what type of action, if any, Leo Messi would take about “Messiverse” domain names.
