DomainsBot shared the results of its recent study indicating that when users search for two-word .com domains to register, these are available only 13% of the time.
DomainsBot, the provider of Pandalytics, which provides data and insights on the domain and hosting market, used anonymized data from its name suggestion service for the study conducted to benefit the internet community.
Key findings of the report include:
- The number of people searching for a domain increased by 37% in May 2021 compared to search volume in May 2020.
- People are using fewer queries to search; the number of people who searched more than six times decreased by 26%.
- Users tend to search for domains with a certain number of words consistently. About 75% search for domains made up of two or three words and they tend not to add additional words to increase their chances of finding an available .com domain to register.
In its current incarnation, DomainsBot was founded in 2004 in Italy and is not to be confused with the original DomainsBot that formed in the late 1990’s.
