Tim Schumacher, co-founder and former CEO of Sedo, has announced World Fund, a massive new venture fund to back entrepreneurs building climate technology for a regenerative world.
World Fund VC is funded by a 350 million euro fund. According to Tim Schumacher:
In Europe, we have founders who have developed leading climate tech that provides the foundation for the most valuable companies of the next decade. But until now, European venture capital has been hesitant to take advantage of this investment opportunity.
The team plans to make 40 investments, mostly in Europe: 30 at seed and Series A and 10 at Series B and up. The average ticket size for the early-stage investments will be €1m to €3m, and €5m to €8m for later-stage companies.
Christian Kroll, founder and chief executive of German eco-friendly search engine Ecosia, is a venture partner and the two organizations will work closely together. Other LPs include Trivago cofounder Rolf Schrömgens, and serial entrepreneurs Philipp and Verena Pausder.
