#Chinese capital: Dot .Meta gTLD application filed at #ICANN

ICANN 72 is currently ongoing in cyberspace, or should we say, “metaverse.”

The meta madness among domain investors is real, and hundreds of “meta domains” are being registered daily, according to sources.

If you think you’re running out of options, worry not: Dot .meta is a new gTLD application at ICANN, as revealed in today’s Zoom call.

The applicant is not Facebook, but rather, a Chinese consortium of wealthy investors who made money in LLLL .coms, then moved onto crypto and NFTs.

Serial entrepreneur, Xiong Xiang Shi, talks about the dot .meta application:

“China is ahead progress, as world. Meta finance, crypto, NFT and ETH for Chinese business, number one. I spend good cash for .Meta application, ICANN vote soon. Thank you!”

The .Meta application should be processed as soon as ICANN members finish with other important matters, such as WHOIS privacy, rogue registrar termination, increasing the ICANN president’s compensation, and reducing the carbon footprint of the ICANN web server.

This might not be parody, provided Facebook does choose a “meta” name for the rebrand. Who would apply and get dot meta registry rights? None other than the new parent company of Facebook, of course. And how would you, your store, or anything else you’d like to show off be visible in the Metaverse? Forget trying to “rank” a .com in there! You have to have a dot meta name with $100/year registration and renewals to be seen (excluding advertising fees which put you “streetside”)—with 200 million active websites, you’re talking nearly $20~ billion per year in pure fun coupons. (This all sounds crazy now, but watch this unfold to the T soon 🤣🤣🤣)

amplify – Clearly, the most valuable domain currently is metameta.com – the keyword comes both before and after! 🙂 Only meta.meta will surpass this beauty.

How can we monitor the approval of the icann? Is it a race to secure as many .meta domain names as possible on the day they approve the .meta?

So is it a race to register as many .meta domain names as possible once this is approved? Any suggestions on how to monitor the approval?
