Cigarettes are much cheaper in Japan, by around $3, but that comes with a cost. They have charcoal filters as opposed to the filters used in the States. This makes a pull of Marlboro Reds impossible to get compared to the same as those in the States, convincing you that you didn’t even take a puff. Some brands place a line across the filters so that you know where to cut, giving you a bigger hit of nicotine and an extra dose of tar.
