FreeDesignResources.net: High traffic #domain name stolen at #GoDaddy

The high traffic domain FreeDesignResources.net was reported as stolen at GoDaddy yesterday. The domain has been a popular repository of graphic resources, with a high followship on Adobe Behance and Facebook.

The brazen thief is seeking to extort $5,000 dollars from the victim, in exchange for the stolen domain. Offering an “alternate plan,” the cybercriminal who took control of the domain via the GoDaddy panel, stated:

Don’t have money to buy the domain? I have a proposition for you. I’ll keep the site until I earn $5000. Then I will gift the domain to you. You can’t come to a conclusion by constantly complaining. If you don’t stop complaining, I’ll sell the space to someone else. Then you will try to buy from him with very high sums.

The domain FreeDesignResources.net appears to have changed hands during the first week in April.

Domain crime is a serious offense and particularly serious when combined with an extortion scheme as in this case. The domain’s legitimate owner is currently seeking the assistance of GoDaddy in order to recover access to the domain FreeDesignResources.net.

In the meantime, if the domain and/or web site are offered for sale keep in mind it’s stolen property.
